Hand Building Sessions

All Levels

- Saturday 10am-12pm

Monthly Hand Building Skill Sessions run one day a week for one month and are for students of all levels. During this session we will cover basic hand building skills. Each monthly session will allow students to explore their own creative practice with the guidance of an experienced instructor. These sessions do not follow a step-by-step instruction model or pre-assigned projects. Instead, they provide the necessary information and guidance to meet the goals set by each student. Instructors are able and willing to provide some guided instruction for any students that feel stuck or are unsure of what they want to create. Continuous enrollment (opting for monthly auto-enroll and auto-pay) will allow students to ignore project time constraints. Students who are not enrolled for the next session may lose their shelf space and be required to finish projects by the final class of the month.

Some of the areas we will cover:

- the science and history of clay

- basic form building techniques

- how to use hand building equipment

- pinch, slab and coil

- altering shapes

- joining and attaching clay

- form & function

- suface modification

- glaze and firing chemistry

Walk-in Services

Pottery Painting: Price Varies by Piece

- Grab a few friends (or your headphones with your favorite podcast) and come enjoy some time painting a pre-made piece of pottery. Unlike most paint-your-own-pottery places, our pre-made items are hand thrown and your finished piece will be fully food safe as well as dishwasher and microwave safe so you can cherish a functional piece of pottery, along with the memory, for years to come.

Thrown & Throw: $75 per person + materials

- This is the speed-dating of pottery classes. It's the perfect experience to try on your own, with a date or as a fun outing with friends. It also makes a great gift. In this 90-minute session, you'll get a quick-and-dirty introduction to clay, learn the basics of the pottery wheel and throw your very first piece. Then you'll enjoy the life-giving cathartic experience of hurling your little masterpiece straight into the wall and watching it dramatically slide back down into the clay recycling bucket.   No pressure, no perfection. Just the strangely satisfying joy of making something... then letting it go. Highly recommended by rowdy children, stressed-out adults and therapists alike.
